Picnic site beside Lake Windermere

From Lakeside to hamperside...

Lakeside goes on a picnic... this is an absolutely spiffing idea for a jolly conference break a fab evening-time picnic at one of our top spots for eating out-side.

There'll be lashings and lashings of Lakeside ginger beer and home-made lemonade, and some really scrummy Lakeland nosh to tuck into, like honey-baked ham sandwiches, Westmorland cherry cake and fruit scones with Lyth Valley damson jam and cream.

After your conference, we'll pack your hamper to bursting with all that lovely grub. Then we'll all leap into our rowing boats and row madly across Windermere and stride up to Gummers How or we'll board our sail boat and ply our way across the water to Rawlinson Nab... to enjoy an amazing bird's eye view of the lake, while we tuck into our yummy Lakeside picnic.

Fell Foot - Gummers How

Direct route and return 1 1/2 hours, using forest paths via Chapel House Plantation and return 3 hours.

Finsthwaite - High Dam - Steam Railway

A walk from Lakeside through pleasant woodlands and meadows to Finsthwaite - High Dam and Newby Bridge and Steam Railway. (ask for timetable).Walking Time 21.2 hours.

Rawlinson Nab (Lakeshore - Bowness to Lakeside walk)

A walk on the quiet west shore using the Steamer/Launch to return. Three and a half hours walking via Finsthwaite, avoiding main roads.
