Lawn Art
We aim to make our gardens as interesting as possible, and the lawn is no exception.
The largest lawn is overlooked by twenty rooms, and each summer when the grass has put on a reasonable amount of growth we plot out and cut a pattern into it using a mower with the blades set lower than usual.
Although in theory its possible to cut any design into the grass, we usually select a labyrinth design. Labyrinths are a potent symbol in many cultures, and have been for thousands of years. A labyrinth is not a maze but a single path, it consists of a single meandering pathway which leads from the entrance to the centre, and usually back out again.
So enjoy looking down on our lawn art, or even walking through it!
