Kim Wilde & Lakeside Hotel
One of the most popular attractions at Lord and Lady Cavendish's Holker Hall Garden Festival in 2004 was Kim Wilde's 'Wonderland' Garden which was sponsored by Lakeside Hotel. This was a show garden based on the story of 'Alice in Wonderland', and depicted four scenes from the story. Whilst staying at the Lakeside Hotel over the Festival weekend, Kim was assisted in the construction and planting by Lakeside Hotel's Garden Consultant Richard Lucas.
Kim Wilde's love of the Lake District is well known, and Kim and Richard teamed up once again in 2005 with their fourth show garden together, but both first timers into the world famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Their 'Cumbrian Fellside Garden' scooped a Gold Medal, Best in Category Award, and also the BBC Peoples Award for the best small show garden. Richard's first show garden was at the Holker Hall Garden Festival where he received a Gold Medal for his Beatrix Potter Garden.
