July in the Garden
14 Jul 2014
Following a few weeks of brilliant sunshine and the odd convenient shower, the herbaceous perennials are blooming wonderfully this month. Hostas and Geraniums always do well with us and we grow many varieties of each. The Hemerocallis, commonly called 'day lilies' are looking great, with neat, fresh green strap-like leaves from Spring to Autumn. These will grow in full sun or part shade, producing flowers in a wide range of colours. We divide them every few years so you will see them all around the hotel gardens. Each individual flower only lasts a day, however there are many buds on each stem, giving a beautiful continuous display of colour. We even use them for cut flowers in the Hotel. If you visit us during the winter we will be happy to dig up a root for you!
