The Lakeside Hotel’s stunning lake side setting is easily accessible by car, train, air or bus. The short, direct route from the nearest major motorway (M6) avoids traffic hotspots and ample free parking is available. The pleasant journey to our hotel is where your trip to the Lakes begins, surrounded by beautiful views.

Step outside onto luscious green lawns bordered by vibrant flower beds, with peaceful spots to relax around every corner. Our English country gardens perfectly compliment the hotel building and the beautiful surrounding scenery, making the Lakeside Hotel a wonderful example of a traditional Lakeland property.

Lakeland walks, right from our front door
A variety of walks start from our doorstep, from those suitable for little legs to more ambitious day-long hikes. A section of the Lake District National Park’s ‘West Windermere Way’ walk loops past the hotel, and is part of the ‘miles without stiles’ promise, making it the ideal accessible after dinner stroll, a quick run out with the dog or a family-friendly stretch of the legs.

Lakeside Hotel is in the perfect location for guests to enjoy some of the best Lake District activities and attractions the region has to offer, just a short walk or five minute drive from our front door.

Paddle Boarding
Whether you want to hire a board or take a guided tour, Bowness Paddle Boards, run by two sisters who love life on the lake, can show you the ropes. You’ll find Windermere from the lake, compared to the shore, a much quieter place to be!

The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway
Travel back in time and climb aboard an iconic steam train at The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway. Located just outside the Lakeside Hotel, you can explore the Leven Valley by steam train – a completely unique and fun day out for all!

Lakes Aquarium
Our closest family friendly activity. Stroll across our car park to Lakes Aquarium and discover some of the Lake District’s most famous local creatures, like the Thornback Ray found in Morecambe Bay, as well as some from around the world, like the Oriental small clawed otter and Mexican ‘walking fish’.

E-biking
If you are most comfortable on two wheels, E-Bike Safaris is a great way to explore the Lake District, while ease-e-ride offers e-bike hire in the South Lakes and Morecambe Bay areas.

Bushcraft
In the woodlands of Graythwaite Estate (just 5 minutes away), discover a place where tech and time is forgotten! An ultimate outdoor experience, where you’ll learn and practice ancient survival techniques from fire lighting to shelter building. A hands on experience for all ages.

4x4 Off-road Driving
Graythwaite Adventure offers visitors a thrilling 4×4 adventure on Graythwaite Estate in a Land Rover Defender or Ineos Grenadier, on the only British Off Road Driving Association accredited course in the Lakes, amidst the stunning landscape of the Lake District.
