The hotel is located in a stunning lakeside setting, easily accessible by air, car, train, or bus. We are just a short drive from the nearest major motorway (M6) and only a 15-minute taxi ride from Grange-over-Sands train station. For those traveling by car, we offer ample free parking. Whether you’re arriving from the city or the countryside, the journey to our hotel is both straightforward and surrounded by beautiful views, making your arrival just as enjoyable as your stay.

Whether you travel by road, rail, or sky, there are lots of options to get to Lakeside, where you feel tucked away in a slice of lake side heaven but are no more than 20-30 minutes from several towns.

Just an easy 20-minute drive from the motorway, pull off the M6 at Junction 36 and follow the main dual carriageway towards Kendal and Windermere. After roughly three miles you will see a sign for Barrow (A590) and Milnthorpe (A6). Take the exit and stay in the left lane continuing towards Barrow.
Continue along the A590 to the end (approx. six miles) and you will see the Meathop Roundbaout sign; stay on the A590 towards Barrow and Newby Bridge. From here, follow the road all the way to Newby Bridge for another six miles where you will pass a Shell garage on your left. From here, go straight at the roundabout towards Barrow and Ulverston (A590).
You will see the Newby Bridge Hotel on your left; immediately after their entrance, indicate right to pull into the middle of the road signposted Lakeside and Hawkshead. Go over the bridge and follow this road past the Swan Hotel. The road swings immediately left after the bridge where you will see a brown signpost for Lakeside Hotel and then swings immediately right over another bridge.
Follow this road round to the right after the second bridge and continue straight along this road for approximately one mile, where you will reach Lakeside Hotel on your right-hand side. Pull into reception and let us welcome you to Lakeside.

You can travel to Lakeside from almost anywhere by train. Oxenholme the Lake District is the main line from London to Glasgow and is located in the market town of Kendal, which is a short 30-minute drive from the hotel. From Oxenholme, you can also get the train to either Grange-over-Sands or Ulverston, which are then a 15-minute or 20-minute taxi journey respectively to the hotel.

There are several taxi providers nearby. If you are travelling by train to Oxenholme, we would recommend either Blue Star Taxis or Lakeside Taxis. If you travel by train to Grange-over-Sands, we recommend using either Ian’s Taxis or Lakeside Taxis.
Other local providers include ADL Travel, K Cars Taxis, and Mountain Goat private hire.

From Manchester Airport you can organise a transfer service or hire a car. If you drive, follow the M56 out of Manchester Airport and follow signs for the M6 northbound. Follow the M6 all the way to Junction 36 and then follow the directions found in ‘by car’. The drive takes approximately 90 minutes. From Manchester Airport you can also catch the train direct to Oxenholme the Lake District.
Similarly, from Liverpool John Lennon Airport if you hire a car, take the M62 (West) to join the M6. Follow the M6 northbound to Junction 36 and then follow the directions found in ‘by car’. The drive takes just over two hours.
